whats the difference btwn foreshortening and perspective??

The difference somewhat simple enough.

Perspective is the phenomenon of proportional distortion that applies to objects that are at varying distances away from us. For an example, the distortion that makes a tree appear smaller in the distance than it does close to us.
Or how a branch on one such tree, might appear larger than the trunk - if the branch itself is perched right in front of our eyes, and the trunk is some ways away from us.

Foreshortening however; is a technique applied by artists to give the illusion that something exists within any given perspective. Done through “ shortening” and bulking out certain volumes to make it look like parts of the object is closer, and parts are further away from you.
